Paul O’Shaughnessy is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE), with a strong academic foundation in exercise science. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Ball State University and an Associate of Science in Exercise Science, along with a Personal Training Certificate, from Cincinnati State University.
With over four years of experience training clients in a private gym setting, Paul specializes in both 1-on-1 and semi-private group sessions. He brings a functional fitness background to his coaching, focusing on movement quality, strength, and real- world performance. His training style is detail-oriented and personalized, helping individuals build confidence, improve mobility, and achieve lasting results. Paul is passionate about empowering people to move better, feel stronger, and reach their full potential—both inside and outside the gym.
I grew up playing baseball and basketball throughout high school, which sparked my early interest in fitness and performance. Over time, that passion for movement and health evolved into a deeper drive to help others feel their best. Combining my love for fitness with a desire to make a positive impact made becoming a personal trainer an easy and natural choice.
My background is in functional fitness. That can mean many different things depending on who you ask but for me it's all about training the entire body as a system and correcting movement patterns instead of individual muscles so that you can perform outside of the gym.
I have been influenced by previous mentors Scott Goodpaster and JC Santana, as well as many former professors.
Watching someone gain confidence and achieve something they once thought was impossible is incredibly rewarding, it’s what drives me every day. I also love how personal this field is. Training isn't just about sets and reps; it’s about building real connections. The relationships and friendships that form through this work make it even more meaningful.
I love working with all clients from young athletes to individuals looking to move better into their golden years.
My attention to detail and ability to clearly explain how the body moves and functions are what set me apart. I take pride in breaking down complex concepts in a way that’s easy to understand, so clients not only know what they’re doing, but why they’re doing it. This helps build trust, confidence, and long-term results.
My mission is to help people move better, feel stronger, and build confidence through personalized, functional training. I want every client to walk away not just with results, but with a deeper understanding of their body and a sense of empowerment they can carry into all areas of life. My goal is to create a supportive environment where people can challenge themselves, grow, and reach their full potential.
I love watching and playing sports, especially baseball. Spending time with my family and golden retriever, Chai, mean the world to me.
With my spare time I enjoy being outside, traveling and experiencing new things, as well as listening and playing music.
