Dr. Lisa Kelly, PT, DPT

Background

From a young age, I always knew I wanted to do something in the healthcare field when I grew up.  I also really loved playing sports.  When I got into OSU, my guidance counselor suggested that I consider physical therapy.  I didn’t know much about the profession at the time, so I started volunteering with a PT at OSU’s hospital and fell in love with it.  I then got a job as a PT aide at a sports medicine clinic and kept the learning going!

I received a Bachelor of Science in Health and Wellness from Ohio State University in 2007.  Then I moved to Cincinnati and started PT school at Mount St. Joseph the day after I graduated.  I received my Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2010 and I have been treating for 15 years now.

I have worked alongside many wonderful PT’s who I have learned so much from. My career path has included vast experience with neurological, orthopedic, and pelvic health specialties and I couldn’t have done it all without the guidance from my experienced clinical instructors, coworkers, leaders, and mentors. 

I love physical therapy because it is a field that never stops learning and growing.  It is really cool to be able to spend time with patients, listening to them, and treating them by looking at how their entire body moves.  It is such a rewarding profession to help someone feel better and meet their goals. 

INTERESTS/SPECIALITIES

All of them!  Every patient I have worked with has challenged me to be a better PT in some shape or form.  However, my focus and time has been primarily in pelvic health over the past several years. 

I think my experiences and my treatment approaches set me apart.  I have worked with a lot of people who have gone through a lot of trauma, so I value the time it takes to build trust and to be able to meet a patient where they are in their healing journey. 

My mission is to keep challenging myself to learn and grow so I can help others achieve their goals and improve their quality of life.   I want to be a part of improving the pelvic health mission…better pregnancy and postpartum rehab for women, improve education on the effects of menopause, improve awareness on pelvic pain resources, support and management, improve access and awareness of the benefits of prehab for prostate cancer, and so much more!

HOBBIES

I find joy being with my family and dogs, traveling and slowing down when we can.  In my spare time, I try to exercise by running, or doing yoga, pilates, or boot camps.  I like to mix it up from time to time.  I also enjoy reading but tend to listen to audiobooks more often!
